I subscribed to multiple PC magazines when I was in college. It was a unique time in the world because internet was starting to become widespread, but it wasn't near powerful enough for people to give up on print publications. I really prefer print even to this day. Magazines aren't really a think in English over here in Vietnam, so it has been a while since I have so much as seen one for sale... but I do recall a sense of happiness when I would open my mailbox and one of these guys would be in there. I would normally read them cover to cover and learned a lot. We didn't give up the way that we will with a screen these days.
I don't think that technology has made this sort of thing better. There's too much of it now and it is so hastily written that most of it is just crap.
