I once lived in a countryside area in Southern Thailand. Now I live in a very busy city. Both have advantages but I really do miss the quiet cooking days like this but the one problem was that if I was cooking and I realized that I forgot something, the store was really far away. I had to be very careful when I would go to the supermarket because the local shops only had very common things like cooking oil and some spice packets and salt.
I wonder if you have ever seen a "chicken tree?" A tree that the chickens will go and stand in at night to keep them safe? My village friends had a chicken tree and there was a little ladder that they would put for them at night and all the chickens would just walk up there. that was one of the cutest things I have ever seen.
