I was in school in the 90's as well and while things have changed as far as the style is concerned, the system, so to speak, is still the same. Certain standards or trends come by and you either conform or you can be one of those few people that manages to pull off the "alternative look." I was one of the alternative look people but looking back at my old pictures I look absolutely ridiculous - but then again, almost all pictures from the 90's look silly today.

I think that girls probably go through this a lot more than boys do but the pressure is still there. Also, I think that most people when they get older kind of regret putting so much into it... but we are all products of what we happen to live in at that time.
