I get irritated when I hear certain politicians talking about "free health care" because that doesn't address the root of the problem. It's wildly overpriced. Why is is that I can get antibiotics over here in Vietnam for less than a dollar but it is many times that price in USA for the same product? The same is true of any other sort of prescription (or even non script) medicine over here.
One benefit that Americans have is first access though. There is right now a type of eye drop that can temporarily whatever not being able to see thigns that are close to you is called, and it apparently has a 90% success rate for 8 hours or so. That would be absolutely game-changing for me. But it currently isn't available anywhere outside of USA and likely wont be for many years.
