I was going to look it up on my Kindle but apparently I rage-deleted it lol. It had something to do with some new race/creatures that were organic, not scientific like with spaceships, and they invaded the galaxy and the Federation was completely at a loss of how to handle them because they had some sort of frequency that shut down their ships' shields.
I guess I didn't like it because any time any of the main characters were involved there wasn't any doubt about what was going to happen. Completely made up new characters or "red shirts" always died... it was just too predictable and therefore boring
