I blame capitalism driving bosses to believe in a "profit first and everything else don't matter" business philosophy. It sucks to be a worker nowadays. I am from Malaysia and we have the same problem as you described over here. I guess it's happening all around the world at this phase.
I think the 20% inflation as you described is because all the pressure are put onto the customers. It can be a 7% inflation across the board but since businesses will just put all the inflation pressure onto the customers by increasing prices on...well, everything, it just means that the customers are there to absorb all the inflation.
