Hi Hivers,
During our 4 days trip to Spain to sign some paperwork we had plenty time left to explore our future 2nd country a little.
So what you normally see of Spain is the vibrant (coastal) cities either pittoresque or damaged by mass touristm. And then there are Madrid, Barcelona and Valencia to name a few.
But today I wanna talk about Elche a mid size town just below Alicante with a history way beofre the Roman period. The city now is dominated by buildings made by the Arabs/Mores and even more by the vast Palm tree plantages cultivated now more than 7 centuries if I am correct.
Check out Mrs Goldrooster on the tower of the Arab castle in the historic centre of Elche:
Doesn't it look like a middel East Oasis to you too ? Dadelpalms grow in many park like spots in the city and give it an Arab atmosphere.
The building houses a museum so I took some pictures of the coins exhiite but they were impossible to get sharp due to the angle and mirrors.
But you get the idea right. Stuff from 1000 to 100 BC.
The house we bought might be transfered to us mid or end of January. After that I will be able to show yo some more pearls of Spain hopefully soon
Take care
Goldrooster/Gallo Oro
