One of my more precious silver coins is this silver rider replica minted by the Dutch Mint in 2019. After the success of the Liondollars (2017 - ...) they added other historical coins in the restrike programm.
Not the gold Dutch Ducats ofcourse because they never stopped striking ducats. Each year a new ducat is minted for those who paid in advance.
That coin is minted hudreds of years.
The silver rider however was a heavier trade coin in silver like the liondollar and the 8 reales and the US tradedollar later on. When the Dutch stopped being a worldpower the silver rider lost its use.
But now the restrike made in 2019:
You see the Dutch Lion with seven arrows representing the seven provincies making up the Netherlands Republic at the time.
Later 4 more provincies were added and one more in modern times.
The seven were Zeeland, Holland,Utrecht, Gelre, Friesland, OverIjssel and Groningen. A famous ship was the 7 Provincien
The coin came in a Delfts Blue cover (ceramic) and the holder is baked clay too.
The cover shows craftsmen hammering the coins as it was done by the antiques all the way till modern times.
