self-voting is inherent to the system so there's little point in "being against it" ... i wish they would remove downvoting to make the place more attractive to high value brands ... but the dude has a point there : to just expect everyone to be nice and hippie about it is slightly hippiecrite. It's a promise of money on the frontpage too.
What most stripminers either don't realize or fail to care about is that it can't simply work like that indefinitely. But i think its the 1% and the fortune 500 (or fortune 50 ?) who cost the most, while at the same (some of them) provide the most. You also got your hyper-inflation here, which might work for the dollar , but that's "the world's reserve currency" (in that aspect we can safely say STEEM still has a bit or a byte to go)
I self-vote without shame, but i also out-vote without shame, i keep the balance

BUT, in the end, if it's about 10.000 little fish buying 50 dollar worth of steem only to see the 50 on top sell it off the next day the moment it hits 40 cents, people will shout ponzi, right ?

it's a tough situation but it will come down to a core of dedicated people and HOPEFULLY some of the rich f*ers showing some restraint ... you can just as well sell off at $5 , and a coin that's worth $5 in these days is attractive ...
face it : the coins that are wanted the most AND bought by big money are the expensive ones, not the thousand of crudcoins out there, it's the zeroes that attract, not "the low price"

this place just needs business, BIG brands, cola, greenpeace ... all the ones with BIG ad-money (slim chance google or facebook will come i guess ...)

and THAT is why i think the option of flagwars between two competing brands is detrimental to the system ...

Or simply cap it ? which wont work out well if you have to keep rewarding people, but CAN if you add more digits in fact be done , in essence at 8 satoshi deep (as i tried to calculate) 21mln BTC could surpass the value of all dollar in the world when the last satoshi was about $3000 (i think, its been years ...)

you can't rely on the smallfry to get you the money, but learn lessons

for instance twitter, which never made an actual cent in profit , sold out like hotcakes when they went, simply by sheer bulk numbers

"we have x million accounts"
"we have x zound tweets per hour and z per second"

they never mentioned "quality content" in the salespitch

yet oil sheiks lined up

not that i'm saying steemit should go public ... i think its the worst thing to do because you end up a** up in front of "the board" ... maybe gets you the billions, but what's wrong with "just enough millions"

it's a utility coin like this, not a speculation coin , people need a reason to buy it, not a promise of maybe later, and that can be anything, from steemmonsters to "will code for food" (lol) .. for instance

so all the people in the pictures with the suits and the ties and the four or five figure accounts should get a-thinking WHAT they can sell for steem, they got the clout and the connection

they sure got the talk and the will to tell you how it's done

right ... my non-talking utility account has spoken !
