I prefer oats with a thicker consistency too
Sometimes I soak the oats in milk for a few minutes while the water boils, so they can cook quicker, other times I add milk to the pot halfway through cooking.
What I really like to do is add mixed spice and vanilla essence to the boiling water, before I add the oats, I find that I end up using less sugar to sweeten.
I should definitely try the frozen fruits one day, thanks for the suggestion
