I'll end this little post with a note about how my country came to be. It came to be because of immigrants. Surely they were Irish, German, Somalian, Italian Mexican. When the first Europeans arrived hundreds of years ago, they were immigrants. Just about everyone else here, unless they have Native American roots, is an immigrant or the descendant of immigrants.

Dear agmoore@agmoore !
I have always been amazed by how ordinary Americans map out their ancestry and lineage genetically!
For an ordinary East Asian like me, however, my identity is tied more to the country and territory I currently belong to than to my ancestors.

The way I see it, I felt you had a more European sensibility than people from Oregon, Wyoming, or Texas!

While reading your article, I came to think of the United States not as a single nation, but as a federation formed by a diverse array of countries and peoples.
I gathered that you definitely had a completely different personality from the American friends I met at Hive!

Do you consider yourself to be of Irish descent because your husband is?😀

I hope you understand my awkward and rude English!

I hope your health and long life!
