The movie raises the question, “What will one do for love?” The Power of the Dog is, in a sense, a response to that question. The main characters are two brothers, a widow and the widow’s son.
The brothers are Phil and George--Benedict Cumberbatch and Jesse Plemons. The widow and her son are Rose and Peter--Kirsten Dunst and Kodi Smit-McPhee. These four characters carry the plot, although Cumberbatch brings the greatest energy.
Dear @agmoore !
Madame!
I thought The Power of the Dog was similar to Shakespeare's Hamlet!
Phil's attempt to steal his brother George's wife is similar to Claudius' killing the King of Denmark and marrying Gertrude!
The behavior of Peter, the son of the widow Rose, is similar to that of Hamlet, who hates his stepfather!
I think Jane Campion revealed the emotions of women suffering from male violence through the movie The Piano!
I assumed that the movie The Power of the Dog would also feature a woman suffering from male violence!
