As a new user I'm quite impressed with Steemit overall.

The system is clever and has potential.

But as a usability freak, the signup process had me puzzled.

Upon creating my account I got an email with a validation link, which is standard. Having clicked on the link, it was confirmed that my account was validated. There were no additional messages of any sort.

I was unable to login as I had no password. Nowhere was it explained why.

It turned out later that my account needed to be approved.

The Solution

To enlighten the oh-so-valuable new user, I suggest Steemit do two things upon validation:

• Display a message alerting the user of the need to be approved and asking him to be patient.
• Send the user an email fulfilling the same purpose.
