I found out later that my brother had made his by grating the zest on a box grater, the finer grating. I had my helper friend peel off the peel and get as much of the pith off as he could before thinly slicing. Mine is more like marmalade than my brother’s.

Yes, these are the bowls like what my mom started housekeeping with in the mid 50’s. I collected them at tag sales. I have 3 full sets plus several extras of all the sizes. I’ve found having 3 of them very handy when I make large batches of things.
