That's too bad about your pig. You'd done everything right, and still things went south. :(( We've never had Kunes, just mixed breeds or GOS. And we've gone to great lengths to make sure they could be cool with muddy spots, etc. So far, so good... Our temps can reach 105F here sometimes, but usually upper 90's.
We raise 2 weaner pigs each year, and we do that, even though we only need 1 pig for the family, because they are a herd animal and do better with another one. We then sell the extra and it nearly pays to raise both. But when the one is sold, that very instant is when we butcher our pig so it doesn't have time to get stressed out.
