My husband and I had a homestead farm in Western Massachusetts with beef cattle, pigs, meat birds, and layers along with large vegetable gardens and an herb garden until he died on Christmas 2020. I only have the gardens now but no longer have animals except my old cat, Larry.

RE: How Much Fun is the Garden in Spring??
Every season, it's still a surprise when you are doing spring and I am frantically trying to get done in fall... And oranges and limes... The nasturtium will make a nice covering for the wire.

Yup, and just finished 2.5 hrs more of it. And got a helper this afternoon and lots to do. Yup, one wiped out bunny, the old Energizer battery is running mighty low... :))

RE: Fall Orchard photos
Very good photos! Those orchards look so curious. Like you, I'm used to the old standard trees...

Pretty much I’ve gotten as much done as I can for the next 3 weeks. There’s the pasture walking for fences starting tomorrow, the freezer room in between until next Sunday or Monday, acorn raking, windows

RE: Weathering the Storm — A Memory
Wow! That was intense! What a great idea about berms through the house! I don't think I ever had to deal with something like that.

Now that's one happy little doggie! That's funny about the chipmunk. I found one yesterday on top of the trellis at the end of the shed and it stayed there for a long time, even after I got my photos.

Nice little trees! And some nice fruit from them. I head out this morning to work on the most recently planted set of mine.

Making vinegar is easy. You just need raw cider and jars and cloth with a tight weave and time.
