A good Christian home comprises of the Father,Mother and Children. Apart from making Christ the head of the family, a family should always live in unity among themselves without any thing causing fight or misunderstanding in the home. It should be a home where there is mutual respect,love,understanding, and other characteristics that surrounds a good home are taken in high esteem.
Any home that domestic violence has taken its place is not a designed home where God should reign.
Ephesians 5:22-25,
Wives,submit yourselves unto your husbands,as unto the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife,even as Christ is the head of the church:and he is the saviour of the body. Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ,so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing. Husbands, love your wives,even as Christ also love the church, and gave himself for it.
WHAT IS DOMESTIC VIOLENCE?
This is an aggressive or violent behavior within the home. This is the use of physical force to harm someone especially in the household. Domestic violence can be emotional abuse,sexual abuse,child abuse and also physical assault which may lead to murder,divorce and other social vices.
EMOTIONAL ABUSE
For example,a man who is having misunderstanding with his wife and not talk to her for many days can harm the woman emotionally and vice versa,this is a situation whereby both of them are not ready and willing to surrender and say sorry to each other and they keep malice in the home.
SEXUAL ABUSE
This is so common between a father abusing his daughter sexually,it can also be called raping. When a child is sexually abused by any of the relations without the consent of the parents and because the child cannot speak out,this continues. Also a child may explain but find it difficult with the parents to believe such and wouldn't be able to confront such fellow who is trying that.
CHILD ABUSE
This is an act of maltreatment of a child. A situation whereby a child is deprived of education and this causes rift between the parents.
PHYSICAL ASSAULT
This is a dangerous act as it may lead to death or divorce when either the man did something wrong that hurts the woman or vice versa.
What are the causes of domestic violence?
When the husband cannot meet the family demand or is not capable of feeding the family,this then makes the woman to be aggressive and hurt because she is the only one carrying the responsibility.
When the husband is not physically,spiritually, emotionally fit to lead the family. The husband comes back home so drunk and you expect the wife to be looking at him without saying a word to him. Or if a man doesn't have a job he is doing,the wife starts hurling abusive words at him,then misunderstanding enters and calls for domestic violence.
When the man fails to love his wife and children,there is no how the house won't be on fire because a house where there is no love,peace will not reign.
When the wife fails to recognize the man as the head of the house. She also wants to be commanding as the man,the wife won't allow the man to talk, before she talks.
Failure of the wife to support the man financially,spiritually,emotionally etc. A wife who is not supportive to the husband cannot enjoy peace in the home. A woman must be fit in all areas for the progress of them both.
When there is no trust between the both of them.
When children are not trained right from their young age. The Bible says in Proverbs 22:6 that "train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old,he will not depart from it." But when you fails to give a child proper training physically,academically, spiritually, mentally etc,they will not give you rest at all.
Lastly,what can cause domestic violence is when either the husband or wife is temperamental in nature,easily gets angry at small thing.
THE ATTRIBUTES OF A CHRISTIAN HOME
A Christian home should make Jesus the cornerstone.
The home should have respect for one another.
Everybody in the house should play his or her own role effectively in accordance to God's commandment
Each of them(Father,Mother and Children) should hold God in high esteem.
Peace should always be flowing like a river in the family
The family should always live in harmony because they serves as role model to people behind them and those who are in it already.
IN CONCLUSION
Domestic violence is now rampant in the world now and it has drifted to even the believers home. It leads to battering but now,it has become something that is leading to murder and killing of oneself. It should not be so and must be erased through God's help.
