When I first started stacking I used to watch a YouTube video of a guy with a pile of gold. He was showing coins and placing them into a box and it was the most jaw dropping thing my eyes had ever seen. I watched that video countless times and I used it as motivation for myself, one day I wanted to have a box full of gold.
While my box is very modest in comparison I'm on my way to realizing a goal that has taken me years to accomplish. Here's most of my gold..
I'm not showing this to brag or boast, I'm showcasing what has been years of blood, sweat and tears. I've sacrificed alot and cut out trivial expensives to consistently add a piece here and there until I collected over 11 oz of AU inside of this box.
Most of you know I cook for a living, I don't make alot but this is proof that anyone on any budget can save money. While you may not want to buy gold with your savings this has been filling a need I have on payday to spend money. When I spend now I try to buy silver and gold rather than useless shit.
Stacking has taught me that if your consistent small amounts eventually add up. This hobby has made me able to save in other avenues aswell. The joy I used to get from spending money has now been replaced by saving it, it's the same high watching your investments gain over time as it is spending when you're bad with money and its burning a hole in your pocket.
I'm going to fill this box to the top and I know that I'll get there one day because I'm determined. I have 0 credit card debt, my bills are miniscule and I save twice as much as I spend on a relatively small salary. I try not to spend money unless I have to because one day I want to be able to retire in comfort after working hard ever since I was 17 years old.
Some avenues I was able to cut corners in order to not spend have been simple things like my cellphone is 6 years old. I'm always commenting on how the camera sucks and it's a piece of shit but it's hard to replace it while it still works. I have a pay as you go plan that costs me $25 a month. I don't have data, I try to use free wifi at work and when I'm out and I'm not really missing anything. My friends have new phones and their plans are literally $100 or more, that's crazy!
Another thing is I should have bought a new jacket this winter, my coat is 3 years old and the zipper is broken. I live in Canada but I toughed it out and just used the velcro closure to do it up it rather than spend a couple hundred on a new one. While I'll probably buy another jacket next year I saved money this year and I've almost made it through the worst of winter without dying 😊 Sometimes the wind blows it open and I have to hold it but whatever, I bought a 1/4 oz of gold with what I would have spent on another one 👍😎
So the point of this post is.. if you really want something you have to sacrifice to get it, cut out the excuses and just do it. I wanted a box of gold and I got one, it took a long time but I'm super proud of myself and I remember looking back on when I thought I was too poor to even buy one piece of gold. I got my first 1/10 of an oz gold coin with money I made by selling some video games I wasn't playing. After that first piece I was hooked! I'd watch YouTube videos all the time of ppl showing gold and dream of one day having a decent amount and now here I am.
