I am a little bit shaky about how to go about this introductory post , but hey, I think a little bit of Yoga could really help now, so I would just give it a trial, sigh,
alright, let's do the Yoga, (I have never done Yoga before)... exhale in deeply , exhale out slowly .... I just felt a sense of relieve... Hmm, this Yoga really works!
Now, I think I am good to go, I am Ridwan by name, when I was a kid, I was fondly called "D REAL" by my Dad, the neighbors would taunt me with a nickname coined from my name, "Read one" or "Read thousand"*, it was not really a bad nickname, I could remember I quickly got used to it and would joyfully answer whenever I was beckon on.
I am born into a family of five, I been the only son, my paternal Grandmother gave me a pet name, Okanlawon meaning the one that breaks the trend of girls child, either way, depending on the sex of the new born child. I was born in the Northern part of Nigeria, in the city of kaduna, but we had to move back to my home town because of the violent nature of the Norteheners, I was just a year old, my mom told me they almost lost me to a tragic accident we had on our escapade to Ibadan city, my home town, which happen to be the biggest city in West Africa.
Growing up In Ibadan which is in the southern part of Nigeria, was a little hard for my sisters to fix in but they had no choice, with time they feel in love with the robust city , we had to stay with a family friend for some months , then we got our own rented apartment, we named it a "Semi-Barrack", because it had over 35 apartment , every apartment/flat was occupied by a family with kids, so you can imagine how rowdy and noisy it gets, but that was the part that saved my siblings from the trauma of moving from Kaduna to Ibadan, this "Semi-Barrack" created a doppling effect on my sisters and I, the "Semi-Barrack" , it was so much fun and we all had each other back in the suburb where the "Semi-Barrack" is situated.
My parents made sure we were a center of attraction and attention by strictly guiding us and also lavishing love and care in making sure we grew straight in the rugged neighbourhood we lived in...
I couldn't speak up in English whenever I was around families because of fear of falling short ,my sister would enforce me to express myself mostly whenever I was angry about an issue, in between I speak quite good amongst peeps but I felt my sisters would condemn me because I felt I wasn't good enough, until I got tired of keeping quite whenever I had to express my heartfelt issues, I spoke, and behold, everyone was surprise at home and hence from that day I gained confidence, in that I learnt
Fear is an illusion and it is delusional
I had to learn a lot of dependency when I got admitted into a Senior Secondary School, and I had to move into the boarding house, my experience was sweet and bitter. I gained admission into a prestigious University in Nigeria after waiting for another year, Ladoke Akintoka University of Technology, famous for its academic excellence, strike actions, international recognition which sways balance between academic glory and alarming success for its online hustling , I graduated from Civil Engineering though I had setbacks, which created a huge depression which drained my energy and almost sucked out life out of me ,it got me distracted and detached from everyone and everything; such as * poem writing, playing basketball, learning programming and more but it all went into the galore.
The price of true Success is undervalued, true success doesn't come cheap!!!
I had to shake off the shackles of inequities, face my fears and swim against the tides of odd moments, because an adage says
Tough time doesn't last , Tough people do!
Steemit is platform I have been understudying for couple of months and I feel in love with the concept because it gives people an opportunity to express themselves and push harder to do more and at the same time enjoying their passion. My road on steemit has been graced by mentoring and persistent support from Steemian brothers and sister on board in the names of :
@ewuoso
@harbysco
@honomaus
@essence26
@smart-shaegxy
@olanrewaju
@mzajoke
Thank you , your kindness is appreciated, Gracias !!!
I am on steemit to learn from the vast springs of knowledge deposited here by valuable Stemians and to also improve on my writing skills and showcase Nigeria at large, tech talks, social and economic talks, relationship talks and story writing.
I strongly believe that steemit is an avenue to give back my quota to the society.
I would appreciate every possible networking and mentoring as I sojourn into the world of Steem, my little curiosity has made me aware of great guys who I wish I could be like someday, the likes of:
