The Intro to Brave and BAT: My introduction to the world of Crypto, Dapps and the Blockchain.
A few months back I stumbled upon a new browser called the Brave Browser. At first I thought it was just another web browser trying to take out Google Chrome. I started testing it on my mobile and my desktop and found out that somehow it was fast in loading pages. This is when I knew that this is not just another browser but a whole new way of browsing the Internet. Brave blocks all the ads, trackers and other cookies on the site. This gives you only the content the site published, which is very fast and a great experience. By just using the Brave Browser you can take control of your privacy, data and battery usage. Now that you stopped all the ads, how are publishers going to get paid?. Google AdSense is one of the main sources of income for publishers. Brave provides a solution by a program called Brave Rewards. It is a voluntary ad subscription program that rewards the users for watching ads which are published by privacy-respecting advertisers. The reward comes in the form of a crypto token called the Basic Attention Token (BAT). So you as a user will get BAT tokens for viewing ads and you can then use these BAT's to tip content publishers who you like and follow the most. Brave also has the option to auto-contribute your BAT's based on your browsing history which is stored locally.
I loved the whole experience of getting paid for watching ads and then tipping back to the content creators I love. All your favorite Youtube, Twitch, Twitter, Reddit, Github and Website publishers can now get paid directly by you. You can also donate your BAT's to some Charities. This changes the online ads industry which is right now not respecting user privacy.
