Our place is surrounded and overgrown with grass like this. We call it carabao grass, a type of grass that can be placed or used as a covering in areas such as landscapes, pathways and can also be fed to our pets such as cows and buffaloes. It grows everywhere so it is popular.
At first it was a place where a big house was being built. In recent times our neighbor has left and moved so the place is completely neglected and overgrown with grass and trees. Right now, we plan to clean the area and plant different types of vegetables. It can be planted here in this area because it is close to the river. The soil here is also fertile because it is black in color and we call it loam soil.
We also have mango plantations near the foot of the mountain. We prefer to plant many mango trees because it is also one of the good sources of income. Some people even come from far away places to ask for permission to spray the mango trees and they pay for the fruits that can be harvested there. To make the trees beautiful and easy to climb, we first did what was called Marcotting. It is a type of cutting mango branches so they don't grow.
Because our area has been neglected, wild plants have grown. It is quite difficult to clean and it is necessary to use boots, jackets and other types of clothing to avoid being injured or bitten by insects. Our banana crops have gradually been overrun by wild plants. Various plants such as hagonoy, bulunsiri, makashima and many others can be seen here.
Our area is also planted with a lot of coconuts and it is one of our sources of livelihood. I am happy because many fruits can be harvested. The coconuts are growing here, there are other parts of our area that should plant new coconuts because the other trees are old. But even though they are old, they still bear fruit, so they can still be useful.
I also visited my little garden here in our place, and I was very happy because my vegetables have grown like this we call Alikway. It is a delicious ingredient in soups such as chicken, fish or meat soup. It contains fiber because it is often boiled. Its leaves can be cooked in sauteed, sautéed or simply boiled and dipped in vinegar with chili.
My lemongrass plants have also grown or I call them lemon grass. It is also a delicious ingredient in soups and it can be used as a medicine. There are people who buy lemongrass and they also sell it in the public market. I only use organic fertilizer here but it still grows and grows very healthy. It's really better when you have your own crops in your own place because they are safe to eat because no chemicals are put on the plants.
Since my main topic here on the platform is about my photography or photography, I also want to share the photos I took earlier while I visited our farm. As the afternoon wore on, I noticed a beautiful red cloud so I thought of taking a photo using its reflection in the water. It is very beautiful to watch the sunset especially its clouds. Sometimes we actually watch the sunset when the area is not cloudy. The clouds in the sky show their beautiful shapes, colors, forms so I enjoy looking at the clouds in the sky.
It was a success for me to go to the place where we farm and to maintain the beauty and productivity of the place it is good to plant a lot of vegetables so that something can be eaten and sold when the time is right.
