This time, I had to buy the Centauri Mage to be able to participate in the challenge. The card’s one of my most expensive ones so I should have thought it twice as I won’t likely use it as often as most of my favourite ones. Anyways, its Return Fire ability may come really handy when facing certain opponents, so I am not about to rent or sell it for now.
As such card that could possibly serve as an efficient tank with a counter-fire ability requires a way more advanced tactics that I usually use as a newbie, I spent a bunch of lost games trying this and that. I also won several times. This battle seems to be the most interesting to me. I used only two cards – Nectar Queen, which is a powerful tank with flying ability that could kill almost anything in two to three attacks and my precious Centauri Mage.
The only weakness of my tank was its slow speed. But in this particular fight, it turned out to be a great advantage. As my Nectar Queen attacked after Cerberus and my Centauri Mage did so before, I was able to kill that healing monster quite easily. Thanks to Centauri Mage’s return fire ability, I shot down both the dangerous range monsters easily. When it came to face to face duel with Serpentine Spy, I was glad that Centauri Mage has that many lives.
Even though I tried to use Centauri Mage in the high mana-cap games in the first place (and, alas, quite unsuccessfully), it seems to be made for the opposite. When combined with a good mid to high level tank, it can win you almost any game against cheap sniping ranged cards. Also, it is really handy against tanks with Shield ability.
