I forked reddit's code and built an an open-source p2p alternative in javascript using gunDB. You can try it at notabug.io
It's still a very early work in progress. Currently all content is posted anonymously but optional support for logins should hopefully come this weekend. Anyone can start a peer and replicate/rehost all
