If you caught my blog earlier, you will have seen that I finished up modeling the Imperial Shuttle from Star Wars.

I asked what people would like to see next and there were several votes for the Millennium Falcon. I always wanted to model this, but was somewhat hesitant because of the challenge of all the details. Look closely and it really is a mish mash of spare parts, tubes and greebles all over the thing!
Nevertheless, what the people want they will get, and I have made a start. I began gathering as much reference as I could, with decent top, side and front views. Here is all my reference, set up in Pureref.
In Pureref you drop all your pictures in and it arranges them optimally. You can zoom into each picture to focus on different areas and details. The shape of the Falcon may look fairly simple at first glance. When you really study the form, you see it has major landmarks cutting into and joining with others. I started as I usually do, with the big shapes. Get these wrong and it doesn't matter how detailed you make it, the model will fail to look good. Here is the project after about an hour and a half.
As you can see, I dragged the top, side and front reference pictures into Modo. Also note that I am going for the classic Falcon, with the round radar dish, as opposed to the newer one as seen in the first picture. I'm really looking forward to this.
Thanks for looking, I hope you follow along with my progress on this.
