我国阴历（农历）12月初八日，是汉族腊月中的腊八节，大多的汉族聚居区人民都有熬腊八粥吃腊八粥的习俗。
腊八粥的配料主要是农家使用当年收获的新鲜粮食以及瓜果熬制，味道有咸有甜，常用配料谷物类为大米，小米，绿豆，豇豆，小豆，花生，大枣等制作甜味粥，还可以添加肉丝，白菜，豆腐等制作咸味粥。
