Fadekemi.jpg

Good morning everyone,

Today I want to share with us my latest digital drawing and the last piece of the "Nigerian Brides" collection. I've been working on these three drawings for the past few days and this is the final piece. She represents the Yoruba culture which I come from and I call her "Fadekemi" which means "Pampered with royalty". I tried to make this piece to be beautiful as much as I can and I put all the details of a yoruba bride in this drawing. She is seen in a shiny Aso Oke with her big wrapped head gear and traditional beaded necklace and earrings.

This drawing was done on Adobe photoshop using textured brushes. Below I'll be showing us the progressive pictures.

PROCESS

  • The first thing I did was to make the outline, select the colors I will be working with and made a rough painting with the colors. Initially I wasn't sure with the background color I will be going for as you can see I was changing it periodically. I just knew I wanted green but I wasn't sure what shade it will be. Eventually I went with a darker shade of green with a floral orange pattern on it.
