I like the story of Ruth. In chapter 4: 13-22, we find that, after the death of her Hebrew husband, Ruth could have remained in her own culture, which would have been easier and more viable for her. Instead, he decided to travel with his mother-in-law, Naomi, who was returning to Bethlehem, where she would be a foreigner. Why did he do it? The reason seemed very simple and logical from his point of view: he had an absolute loyalty to his mother-in-law mourned.

Loyalty unites individuals. True loyalty is not easy because it requires that we be patient and willing to endure the inconveniences. Loyalists modify their agenda to meet the needs of the people they serve. In addition, loyalty always demands paying a price. Ruth, for example, made a tremendous sacrifice by leaving family and friends to serve Naomi.

Of course, pious loyalty also deserves a great reward. God saw Ruth's deep and constant loyalty and rewarded her by giving her loving husband, a beautiful son and, as if that were not enough, included her in the family lineage of Jesus Christ.
