Hello travel friends,
Today, I want to share the beautiful photos I took of Cagdanao Island.
This island was filled with tourists, and we heard longboats going back and forth the whole time we were there. Philippine longboats don't use mufflers on their 2-cylinder diesel engines, which makes them extremely loud and audible from where we were anchored.
It was really hard to set our anchor again since it was a gravel bottom, but after 2 or 3 attempts, we went spearfishing as soon as we anchored, since we had no luck trawling. Unfortunately, we still had no luck, but we did manage to see lots of beautiful mushroom reefs.
The Philippines is known for its diving sites, and the whole area is famous for diving. The picture above shows the little hut resort that seems to have survived COVID-19 and reopened when we arrived, as we saw lots of people on shore.
It seems there's some reef protection involved in this area, as we have never seen such beauty in the Philippines. It is good to see that most fishermen have jobs since many tourists visit this area, which helps. If these fishermen were not employed, I can guarantee these reefs would be long gone like in most areas, which is just the harsh reality.
