We live in an immediate society, where there are deadlines to meet, goals to achieve and everything has to be "for yesterday". Our diaries are full and the days seem to be getting shorter and shorter. We have many activities, but there is no time for God, our family, friends and the church.
In the midst of so many urgencies, we must ask ourselves: What are my priorities? Am I being true to my values? Jesus once said, "For where your treasure is, there your heart will be" (Matthew 6:21). This truth serves to remind us that our heart will always be in what we value most, and God should be our priority. Speaking of which, is it that we really live, or do we only exist? The famous writer Oscar Wilde said: "Living is the rarest thing in the world, most people only exist."
Because of the current of our days, we often forget that we are human, that we have a heart and feelings, that God feels our fault and that He wants us to stop for a few moments to pray and give Him praises of gratitude.
When Jesus said that our heart will be in what we value, He knew that our heart tends to "create wings and fly" to get away from the presence of the Lord and the things that should be our priority.
How many times have we invented excuses not to pray, read the Word and without realizing it, we distance ourselves from our relationship with God !? With that, our heart begins to give place to idols: television programs, chat on social networks, football, videogame, outings with friends and many other things that apparently "have nothing too much", but that, final ,
REVEAL THE PRIORITIES
When we reverse our priorities, our heart looks like those debris buckets that are left on the sidewalks, where anyone plays anything and leaves.
Our life seems to be more fun, but deep down, it loses its meaning. We become, then, bitter and selfish people, for the thoughts of the world sweep away from our hearts the Words of eternal Life of Jesus. He who gave his life for us is left in the background, but
Jesus does not accept that and wants back the place that was always His. "Behold, I stand at the door and knock, if anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and dine with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3) :twenty). Then re-prioritize Jesus, for only He can make you walk in holiness in these worlds where values are so inverted. If he does, all of God's wonderful plans will be fulfilled in his life.
