I probably told you this but I used to think a possible retirement destination was Mexico. Problem is, I no longer feel safe there. Less if I had any spending money to speak of.

Our government and some individuals have seen to it that we're not that welcome as we used to be. I'm surprised that you found pockets in Europe, even in the UK where we're supposedly still allies, but especially in Greece. That's not the view I got from a couple who lived there a couple decades or so ago. Perhaps economic hard times has changed that since Greece, reportedly, along with the rest of the southern countries, has taken the brunt of the EU overhaul.

What about Australia? Been there yet? Can't remember. Seems like you'd have the same welcoming, and potentially better clime. It would just be opposite day year round as far as weather goes. :) Not sure what the cost of living is. Probably not as cheap as many Asian countries, but what is?
