I really don't know what their intentions have been, only what they've accomplished. Upgraded STEEM with SMT sounds good, though, and not a whole lot different than cheaper, sustainable, scalable STEEM with a less feature filled SMT. :) I guess until it all rolls out it will be hard to know what was the risk and what was worth the wait.
