Welcome to One to a Million, a blog charting my journey towards, hopefully, a £1m crypto portfolio. The purpose of this blog is partly to chart my own personal journey and also as a guide for anybody else just starting out in crypto so they can learn from my successes and failures. I can’t promise you’ll learn anything, indeed I can’t even be sure you can read in which case I’d advise you to stop here, but I’ll try and keep it informative and entertaining along the way.
So a little more about me. I recently moved to Harrogate, a beautiful town in Yorkshire after spending time in Bournemouth (where I grew up), Bath (where I went to University) and London (where I got married and had two kids). I never really had any career goals and indeed have spent the fifteen years of my working so far flitting from job to job, wondering how the hell I was going to ever earn anything like decent money, despite also having a nagging feeling that I was, somehow, going to be OK for money in the long run.
Since moving I’ve been working for a great IT hardware company as a content writer, which isn’t as grand as it sounds, but more of that in a later post I’m sure. The most important aspect of this job however is a guy in our department who said back in March 2017 that he was into something called cryptocurrency, and that his brother had this year made £27k buying something called Ripple. We had a couple of conversations which got me even more interested in the tech behind it, I watched a couple of YouTube videos on the blockchain and a Bitcoin documentary on Netflix and bang, suddenly I got it. And I was in. I made my first investment at that time in an obscure coin called ZR Coin and haven't looked back since - now it consumes most of my time and thoughts and has, so far, earned me a £130k portfolio, so I'm just over 1/10th of the way towards my goal.
