Happy beginning of the week to my Hivers friends of this community, during the last days I have been full busy with some family and church commitments, although I felt that my strength was running out remembering who I am and who I count on gave me the necessary strength to come out triumphant, and remembering that my strength does not depend only on my body but also on my spirit made me go back to my childhood and how every step I took to get closer to the Savior and at the same time to strengthen my spiritual foundations.
I could say that I come from a somewhat Catholic family without wishing to judge anyone of course, they went to church every year to the different activities that took place during these dates, but the rest of the year I did not see them attending, but when each child was about to turn 9 years old they enrolled us in catechism and forced us to attend both classes and Sunday mass, at that time I wondered why if they did not attend they forced us to do so.
One Sunday I asked my mother the reason for all this, it seemed somewhat ironic that they forced the little ones to do something that they as adults did not do and she only told me that it was customary in the family that everyone made the first communion, despite this and although I did not agree I attended the classes and masses with some of my cousins, more by obligation than by conviction, after 3 months my cousins were revealed and simply did not continue attending, but I out of respect for my mother and for love of God continued to attend.

But when I was a few weeks away from the ceremony, two things happened that made me doubt to go ahead, the first thing was that I heard the clergyman of the church speak in a derogatory way about the person who was teaching me, since day I was taught that respect was earned and that trust was one of the most valuable things we could count on, but that day when I heard those words between those people my respect for them and the trust I had broke just like a glass of glass falling to the floor.

When I returned home I went to the place where I always felt close to my Heavenly Father, it was a tree in a plain near a hill, where there was no house or people passing by, there as usual I began to overflow my feelings to God as if I was talking to another person, I asked Him why that action and those words I had heard, I told Him that the day of the first communion was approaching and how could I confess my concerns or sins to that same person who had lost my trust, among many other things I asked Him that if it was on His part to prevent me from attending that day, He would help me.
The days went by and less and less I wanted to attend, but the obligation created an inescapable weight, so by attending my classes as much as possible I avoided having to see those two people, when there were 10 days left for the day so longed for by many, you will not believe it, I got measles and therefore I could not continue attending the classes or to perform that ceremony that my family wanted so much, although for them it was a tragedy I saw it as an answer and since then I began to form my own spiritual foundations.
Every week I went to my meeting place with God and talked with Him sometimes for hours, that time spent there filled me with strength and gave me the peace that a young woman could desire, so the years passed and I did not let myself be influenced by the customs or traditions of my family, Instead I set myself the task of looking for The Church of Jesus Christ, a church that would give me the peace that can only come from going, that peace that you feel in the midst of trials and afflictions that does not allow you to get lost in them, instead it strengthens you and guides you to go forward and overcome.
Although I confess that it was not easy to find a place to strengthen my foundations, I managed to get to that place that I felt was my place, when I arrived I felt the sensation that I was getting to the place where I belonged, it was as if I had returned from a long journey and I returned home, There I found my rock that keeps me firm in the storms, the place to strengthen and share my spiritual foundations, since that day my peace has been full I can feel the love of my Heavenly Father and my Savior in every step I take and his constant company, for all this I am greatly grateful.
Family traditions are beautiful when they are not obligatory and have a sincere purpose, but in spite of them we have the will and we are the ones who must decide how to strengthen our spiritual foundations, as well as to be able to have that constant communication that fills and strengthens us, greetings to all and thank you for reading my blog and for commenting.
