I think Tesla is in a very painfull transformation stage, with or without Trump's support, and Elon doesn't want to admit it.
Tesla isn't able to compete with chinese companies like BYD in the EV sector, but maybe, with Elon's genius, if they can be the first to convert in building robots for the masses.,,, Tesla could fly to the top again !
