I am showcasing songs from the legendary Bob Marley. This guy embodies truth. He is like our very own Fela Anikulapo Kuti here in Nigeria. Bob is a global icon and his music transcends culture, race, colour and distance. His music strengthens, opens the eyes of everyone to the truth and tells us to do better because we are capable of being better. I also love the idea behind his music; speaking the truth while making us dance along so it can sink in. He made me fall in love with Reggae music; Reggaeton.

Who is it that doesn't love Bob Marley? Hands in the air anyone? No hands? Exactly. You don't have to like Reggae to love his music because it's not just about the style of his music but it has everything to do with the message he is passing across. The love is real, the message is clear, and the song is danceable. Just move your body along with the song and feel it deep within your soul. 6 months before he released this song he survived an assassination attempt on his life and those around him. This song is about living and appreciating life while enjoying it. It doesn't matter how you celebrate as long as you feel it deep within your soul and that's why he said it doesn't matter how, just jam anyhow.
In my country when someone says jamming it's usually linked to parties, fun and merriment so he is indirectly telling us to have fun, let it loose, let it go and live this one life we have. There is no right or wrong way to celebrate, just have fun as long as you are not hurting anyone while doing that.

This is a very popular song and it doesn't matter how old you are, you must have heard of this at one point or the other. It's an evergreen song from Bob because as I said earlier, Bob's song cuts across every barrier and it's not about gender or race or anything that places restrictions on us as humans, he is all about peace, love and truth.

This is a call for us to love one another. Love is the answer to all the evils we are seeing in the world. Love and not greed is enough to put a stop to the war. It doesn't mean we would always agree but it means we can get to the point where we can accept the opinion of others even when we disagree with them. Bob Marley is a preacher of love and we all should be too. It's a lack of love that makes it hard for us to accept others.

So many songs of Bob were centered around truth, freedom fighting and speaking about unity. When he released this song many people said he had gone soft but he was just a man too, capable of loving and being loved. This song can never fade and I grew up listening to this song. We see another angle of Bob Marley as a lover too and it's wonderful. Naomi Campbell was 7 years old and featured in the video when Bob recorded this video for the song.
Everyone is capable of loving and being loved, most especially Bob. Loving doesn't mean you are soft, it takes strength to love - to commit your heart to the heart of another. Just as only the brave can forgive I would say only the strong can love.
