I have been on Self-ligating braces for 3 weeks now. I must say that my teeth has straightened out quite a bit!
So here is the picture update. My 3 weeks with braces:
I know that my teeth still looks very bad, but all I have to do is to trust my orthodontist
Okay let me share with you guys the process and cost for self-ligating braces
- Did OPG X-RAY = $75
- I paid $800 for the down payment and I still have to pay $2,000 for 12 months
- For my case, my orthodontist said I need to have one of my wisdom teeth removed and that cost $150
- Every 4 months, I have to go for checkup and tightening and that cost $520.
My first day with braces was not so pleasant. My orthodontist had warned me that it is going to be uncomfortable and a lil bit painful. I can't eat hard and sticky foods like chips, pizza crusts, cookies, gums, candies, popcorn, and ice. For the past 3 weeks, I'm only eating bread that isn't hard, oatmeal, soft rice, noodles, pasta, fish, ice cream and eggs. I tried to bite chips, chocolate cookie and it was so uncomfortable and I couldn’t bite it so I had to throw it away.
Overall, I’m feeling pretty good even though I can't eat my favorite foods. I'm brushing my teeth 6 times a day and starting to get used to my braces. I'm really happy with the results thus far. So if you’re contemplating putting on braces, go ahead!
