Hello friends of Hive, this time I come with a song by maestro Simon Diaz, I hope you enjoy this piece of Venezuelan folklore, Mercedes.
Simón Díaz (1928-2014). He is the most famous musician, composer and performer of the Venezuelan popular genre and his work is considered one of the most important legacies both for Venezuelan popular music and for the musical repertoire of the rest of the continent. Known mainly for the rescue of the Llanera Tonada, Simón Díaz, convinced that the Venezuelan plains tune is a musical air with unique characteristics, dedicated himself entirely to spreading it, studying it and composing it until it became an authentic musical genre in which they have achieved great artists such as Mercedes Sosa (Argentina), Caetano Veloso, Ivan Lins and Joyce (Brazil), Joan Manuel Serrat (Spain), Danny Rivera, Ednita Nazario, Cheo Feliciano and Gilberto Santa Rosa (Puerto Rico), Franco De Vita (Venezuela) express themselves ), among others. Likewise, prominent directors and composers of academic music have brought the tunes of Simón Díaz to the language of the symphony orchestra and choral arrangements, thus sealing the universal character of this musical genere.
Mercedes

Mercedes
Mercedes is bathing on the banks of a river
My eyes are looking at her, but it's from a friend of mine
I wouldn't want to look at her but it's not my fault
It looks like an emerald with flowers of suck suck
That I warn my friend, it is very difficult for me
I wouldn't want to look at her but it's not my fault
It looks like an emerald with flowers of suck suck
For me to tell my friend, it is very difficult for me.
There is a cebao alligator that measures more than a block
With more horns than a venao and more teeth than 20 slime
She innocent of everything bathes without noticing
That when it reaches the bend the alligator can approach
And I alone in the canyon, and Mercedes without noticing
She innocent of everything bathes without noticing
That when it reaches the bend the alligator can approach
And me alone in the ravine, and Mercedes without noticing.
I'm running home so my friend knows
I will give him a rhyme and tell him what happens
That there is an immense danger that his wife runs there
That a friend tells him that we have to do something
Let him go soon to save her, and from ñapa I go with him
That there is an immense danger that his wife runs there
That a friend tells him that we have to do something
Let him go soon to save her, and I'll go with him.
When we got to the well the woman couldn't be seen
The alligator upside down, slept in the tastiest
I gave him my condolences on the spot and hugging him I say
That happens all the time, which are things of destiny
And that from now on I have a friend
I gave him my condolences on the spot and hugging him I say
That happens all the time, which are things of destiny
And that from now on I have a friend.
