I've been trying to get a grip on my crypto related taxes since January. Trying to get records form Steem/Hive going back to 2017 has been a nightmare.
I tackle a bit and then get overwhelmed and then don't look at it for weeks. Then I start again.
Basically every single transaction is counted as a tradeable event in the UK. And each token goes into it's own pool and tax has to be worked out on a pooling basis, not a buy/sell basis.
I'm using software to work out my liability but, even then, it's very, very complicated.
I started working on my Hive transactions recently but I can find no record at all of what my original airdrop amount was.
I'm currently trying to extrapolate from what data I do have and make my best guess.
Then there's the earnings from Splinterlands which is incredibly complicated.
I at least have a crypto specialist accountant to talk to once I've got the basics set up. But, as I say, I've been at it on and off since January.
