To play Devil's advocate ...

All financial institutions in Canada and the US have to register with FinTrack. This includes all of the crypto exchanges. So, for the truckers to exchange the funds into fiat would be visible to CRA/IRS as soon as one person got sloppy. Then, if they were withdrawing from a blockchain that was transparent, they gov't could connect all the dots. (CRA and IRS both have blockchain crawlers). Once they connected the dots, they could quickly terminate the exchanges access to fiat.

I fully agree with Luke in that once we go cashless, the gov't won't have any control. But it'll need to be end-to-end cashless on a non-transparent blockchain. Never changing from Crypto back to fiat. So, the gas stations, restaurants, and stores would all need to accept a direct crypto transfer.

WRT the truckers, in my opinion, unfortunately they never unified. They were trying to boil the ocean instead of focussing on a single issue.

• Both the US and Canadian border currently require proof of vaccine to cross. It would be useless to be able to go one way and not the other.
• The mask and vaccine mandates are provincial, so frustrating the federal capital won't influence that. It will simply repel the folks who might have joined the cause because of their frustration.
• Simply having F$%k the Prime minister on your vehicle is just an opinion and doesn't drive an action point. It detracts from your intended goal. (regardless of how accurate)
• There was no individual voice to the truckers. They appeared as a number of individuals with separate agendas instead of a "movement" like BLM.
• In this event, the main stream media simply needed to sit back and press record. The chaos took care of itself.
• With all the stock piled diesel fuel, I was expecting someone (planted) to come by with a vat of liquid fertilizer. With that, the authorities would have been able to treat it like a bomb building terrorist activity and shut it down using all means necessary.
