English version
Hello, my dear friends—readers and entrepreneurs alike. I hope you are doing well and having an excellent week. I am back here after a long time because I would like to share my experiences and thoughts with you once again. It makes me very happy to be here, especially after months of constant learning and study in my classes.
I wanted to share that I turned 19 on August 16th. I thank God for the opportunity to continue in this world—a world we aren't sure is truly ours or if we simply belong to it for a time—especially given what happened in my country: an earthquake that shook not only houses and apartments but the lives of everyone living here.
On this day, it is inevitable for me to get emotional; it is a day filled with nostalgia for those who are no longer here and the sense of emptiness that lingers. Memories also come flooding back, making me relive moments I thought I had forgotten. However, this time was different. I didn't invite anyone and decided to take the day for myself. We often think that to celebrate, we need to be surrounded by a crowd and "pull out all the stops," as the saying goes. But the truth is, the people we share our daily lives with—those who live right there with us—are the ones truly worth celebrating with, not the people we rarely see but invite simply out of obligation.
It was the first time I decided to put aside all those memories that only brought me nostalgia and focus instead on the present moment—and especially on the people around me who do the impossible to see me happy on my special day. My grandparents, my dad, my partner, my uncle, and—of course—my Aunt Li, whom everyone knows. They were the ones who made sure I felt like the happiest, most pampered person on my special day. Although, as my aunt says, "every day is special," and that realization made me see that my family has always done everything in their power to make me happy; because of that, I felt I didn't need anyone else to have a great time. After all, they are the ones who are always there for me.
In my family, it’s a tradition to prepare the birthday person’s favorite lunch—and breakfast, too—so my dad and grandmother made empanadas and pasticho. My aunt took charge of making my favorite cake, which made me feel so loved; even from a distance, she continues to show me her unconditional love and remains present for every step I take.
My grandfather sang to me and gave me 19 candies for my 19th birthday, and my partner was by my side, just as always. Their love helped me realize that we shouldn't view a day as the worst simply because we are used to dwelling on things that evoke less-than-happy feelings. Beyond the gestures themselves, it is about being present and showing you that things aren't as bad as they seem. This time was different, and I thank God for the wonderful people in my life.
