안녕하세요~~평범한 컴퓨터를 전공하는 대학생입니다.
우리가 컴퓨터를 하면서 가장 처음 접하는 프로그램이 운영체제인데요~~
운영체제는 사용자가 컴퓨터를 쉽게 다루게 해주는 프로그램의 일종이라고 할 수 있습니다.
예를 들어 보통 대부분의 컴퓨터에서 쓰고 있는 마이크로소프트사의 윈도우, 애플의 맥os, 등이 있습니다.
예전에 쓰던 DOS 환경도 운영체제의 일종입니다.

이런 머리아프고 복잡해 보이는 운영체제를 생각하게 되는데, 사실 우리가 핸드폰을 쓸 때 쓰는 안드로이드도 리눅스를 기반으로한 운영체제입니다.

리눅스는 핀란드의 한 대원생인 리누스 토발즈가 헬싱키 대학을 다닐때 개발을 했습니다. 물론 처음에는 지금과 같은 퀄리티가 아니였습니다. 그러나 리눅스는 오픈 소스로 공개를 하였기 때문에 전 세계의 많은 사람들이 리눅스를 수정 보완하게 되어 지금의 리눅스가 존재하게 되었습니다. 1994년에는 리눅스 커널 1.0 버전이 나왔고, 발전과 발전을 거듭하여 지금은 대다수의 웹 서버, 태블릿, 스마트 폰 등 많은 곳에서 사용하고 있습니다.
리누스 토발즈는 리눅스를 개발해서 감사의 의미로 약간의 주식을 받았었다고 하는데 그 회사 이름이 레드햇~~이라고 하네요...지금은 어마어마한 크기로 성장을 해버렸죠

리눅스도 여러 종류가 있고, GUI 즉 윈도우처럼 그래픽으로써 화면에 보여주는
이러한 형태의 리눅스도 많이 존재합니다.

물론 리눅스가 컴퓨터를 잘 하지 못하는 일반인한테는 까다로운게 사실입니다.
윈도우와 비교를 한다면 윈도우는 세계적으로 가장 많이 쓰이고 있어서 많은 프로그램들이 호환이 되고, 지금 현재 윈도우는 10만원이 넘는 상업적으로 나온 운영체제이기 때문에 사후 지원이 잘 되어 있는 운영체제 입니다.
반면에 리눅스는 사용하다 보면 많은 에러들 때문에 고민 할 때도 많고, 설정 하나를 바꿀 때도 예기치 못한 에러가 일어날 수 있고, 아직 컴퓨터 드라이버, 호환성이 윈도우 보다 떨어지기 때문에 일상생활용 컴퓨터, 컴퓨터에 대한 기초 지식이 없는 분들이 사용하기에는 무리가 있습니다.
리눅스의 자세한 지식 전달의 목적보다는 간단한 상식 같은 선에서 정리했습니다.
