Jesse sat on the chair staring out the window. It was her first weekend off in months. She had a rough couple of months and today was just one of those days. Tim left her exactly six months ago. He just packed up his stuff and when she arrived home from work the following morning, she found the note on her pillow.
At first, she was angry but after crying her eyes out, she felt relieved. Things had not been great between them and she couldn’t really blame him. A coin has two sides. They tried couples therapy but that was a complete waste of time. They wanted different things in life, and they were not compatible.
They hardly saw each other these last few months. Ever since she received the job offer from the Saint Mary’s hospital after finalizing her nursing degree, things were just different. Tim couldn’t stand the fact that she had to work night shift, but she was not willing to give up her career to sit at home.
She always wanted to be a nurse, and she never thought that she would achieve that dream, but she did. It was now her time to focus on her career. She poured her heart out into her patients and she enjoyed every minute of it.
Today was just one of those days where she missed someone to talk to. She and Tim used to have so much fun together but that was a thing of the past. She had some new friends, but she hasn’t been on a date ever since she and Tim broke up.
Her job was settled now, but she had to work very hard to build the respect she had there. One of the doctor’s there had been nagging her to go out with him, but she didn’t want to mix her private life with her job life, but perhaps it was time for her to take a chance.
She poured some more coffee and picked up her phone to send him a text message. She wasn’t sure if she was doing the right thing, but what was there to lose?
Matthew answered her in seconds, and they made a lunch date for that afternoon. It was a lovely day outside, and she was sure that a little bit of time out of the house was going to do her the world of good.
She finished her coffee and went to take a long relaxing bath. She felt a little bit more excited about her day and dressed herself in a long flowery dress. She let her blond hair hang loose over her shoulders instead of putting it in a ponytail.
She smiled when she saw her reflection in the mirror, and she felt better than she had in months. She looked stunning even though she had to say so herself. She drove to the restaurant and found parking right in front of the restaurant. Her day was turning out better than she thought.
