Even though it's only Tuesday we've had plenty of stuff so far this week, starting with the Town Hall yesterday which touched upon a few interesting topics. But I will actually start with something exciting which I did last night and that was to finally take the leap and get my very own Dr. Blight. That's right while there are a bunch of people who are dumping their collections and land on the market and yelling "abandon ship", I took the leap of faith in the game and the team and actually made my Modern deck a lot more stronger with the addition of the Doctor himself.
I bought him for $385 or $35 per bcx and I really think this price is as low as this card can really get unless the game just crashes, burns and disappears but if that happens I don't think it really matters what the floor for card prices is. This is actually the single most expensive card I have bought so far even though I have put more than $10K in the game, that took me more than 15 months to accomplish, so it was gradual, and the bigger buys were related to pack purchases or Runi (but I paid $250 for my initial Runi mint so still less expensive than the Doctor).
Maybe here's a good spot to give Monstermarket.io a plug since as you can see I actually got a cashback amounting to almost 14,000 DEC when I did the purchase through their site, so that means that Dr. Blight actually cost me about $373. Receiving some sort of a discount on your purchases is always fun. And in case anyone is wondering what the big deal with Dr. Blight is and why it is so important to have this card in your collection, well let's just have a look at a site such as splinterguide.com, which rates the SPL cards based on a bunch of factors, you can see that the Dr. is a beast in Gold and Diamond league, and really decent in Silver, so that's definitely a good enough of a reason to get a hold of it.
And if we have a look at the top Legendary Monsters overall we will see that Dr. Blight is tied for the first place with powerhouses such as Almo Cambio, Kralus and Coeurl Lurker.
Alright enough about my in-game endeavors, let's talk about the Town Hall. It was the first edition of the new bi-weekly format of the TH, and frankly, I had higher expectations for this particular one in terms of news. In the beginning of May they hyped up June a lot, however, it seems that the team will not be able to deliver (well I guess I should say it is obvious at this point as we're the 20th of June already). Anyhow let's see what they did talk about last night.
Starting with the Investygator, we got usual list of planned updates with this week's maintenance as well as stuff which is really close to completion. Here's a quick list of the main points (courtesy of the TH summary post):
Changes to the interaction between buffs and debuffs to prevent situations where +2 buffs would incorrectly be removed by a -1 debuff under specific conditions
Season reward chest type should no longer reset to Bronze if you skip playing an entire season. Like rating, it should now carry over from the last season finished.
The last portion of a major overhaul of our internal card market functionality has been implemented. Most of this should be invisible to players, but should improve market performance. The main item of note is that the initial/main card display will now only update once per minute, so if you see discrepancies between the main page listing and the actual amount of cards for sale, this will likely be the cause.
Corrected (reduced) the circulating supply of some Alpha, Beta, and old Promo cards. When the game was initially released, cards were pre-minted for packs, instead of being created at the time of opening (which has been the current method for a long time now). A number of these cards were still in lingering in the data with no assigned owner, and have now been removed.
So as you can see there wasn't really that much to write home about in terms of this release.
Following immediately after was Cryptomancer and a quick discussion regarding what he was up to these days.
He talked about Guild Power (GP) which, as you probably know, was released last week, and was what he has busy working on recently, so he repeated the main points regarding GP - that it replaced DEC/DEC-B as contribution to the guild buildings, that if you left your guild you would be able to take 90% of the GP you have contributed with you to a new guild, and - something new - that in the future you could be able to contributed even more GP to buildings which had already been maxed out for extra benefits. The other main point of what he mentioned was that there were more guild updates on the way
Next was Weirdbeard and his Brawlhalla section.
They mostly discussed the Road Map and the elephant in the Road Map "room", namely the fact that stuff will have to be delayed because different departments need more time to work on it. Other than that, another main topic which is also really important is the fact the SPS Staking will replace CP really soon (tm), and that players will be able to rent SPS if they do not have enough to meet the max earning requirements for a given league. So this concludes the more important stuff which was discussed on the TH. You can check the whole VOD for the Q&A.
And the last thing I wanted to briefly mention is that there are 9 days remaining until the end of the Great Burning event:
And we have burned a total of 530M DEC/DEC-B combined so far:
If you happen to be wondering - if you want to make it to the top 200 and get a title for the effort you will need to have at least 1,800,000 raffle points (180 raffle tickets) :
Well this is it for now - yet another exciting week in the world of Splinterlands is upon us. Play More, Bot Less! <3
