Tiredness like weight, tiny monsters pulling down my eyes. The sockets grow deeper and my focus fades off, off, off… and what was I talking about?
Moments give way to idle time.
I used to have a dream.
I used to dream.
Now, each morning, putting the pieces together:
How did I get here?
Who am I?
Broken concentration.
Mind cracked like an egg.
I eat over-easy, with buttered toast,
filling my head with useless drivel.
It helps pass the time,
time…
Such limited time.
A terrible sadness,
A morning of loss.
Something that can never be touched again
An unknown
reaching backwards
letting go.
Was it ever there?
Trying to grab a thought,
Like a disappearing dream,
Vanishing
Was I ever there?
Growing up,
Graying hair,
Watching and looking up to our heroes and fathers,
Strong figures,
Age and weaken
As children they seemed so invincible
Forever
We’re moments in borrowed time that was infinite in the joyful rays of fleeting childhood.
The moments we can never have back.
