Mkulusi looked at the bracelet she just bought. It was made of colorful beads in traditional African patterns, and it was beautiful. She bought it because she was going to visit her friend Thandi tonight and wanted to give her a special gift. Thandi was very important to her, they grew up together in Soweto and remained close even after he moved to Johannesburg.
They took a taxi to Thandi's house in Soweto, passing by the bustling streets and vibrant markets that she missed so much. When she arrived, Thandi welcomed her warmly and they hugged each other tightly.
"I have a surprise for you," he said with a smile, presenting the bracelet to him.
"It's beautiful, Mkulusi! Thank you so much," Thandi replied, admiring the bracelet.
The two friends spent the evening catching up, reminiscing about their childhood memories, and laughing. As they were walking outside, thandi noticed a group of men standing on the street corner, eyeing them suspiciously. They both felt uneasy and decided to head back to his house.
But before they could make it home, the men approached them aggressively.
