The Earth formed, shortly after the Formation of the Solar System, 4,567 billion years ago during the collision of interplanetary dust particles. The composition of one particular meteorite type from the asteroid belt, the C1-Chondrite, is mostly equivalent to the composition of the Sun which lead to the assumption that the Solar System was chemically homogeneous in the beginning.
