Hello Steemians The area we were excavating was an Etruscan site, dating back to 800 BC. Most of our discoveries were pottery, roof remains which were clay tile, small hair clips, and some human remains. Along with those were many pieces of slag, which is the waste product of iron making. The pic below is what we unearthed, dating to about 500 BC. A human mandible and a piece of iron slag. The entire area was covered in slag, meters deep and the Necropolis was dicovered by accident as workers in the early 1900's unearthed.
