I've been watching the rise of verge shaking my head daily. I owned a substantial portion a few months ago and sold it off to buy into some crap I probably don't even have anymore. John McAfee came out and predicted that Verge would reach $15. Yes, the man that made a bet regarding Bitcoin with the consequence of having to eat his manhood if he was wrong, predicted it at $15 a coin. I highly doubt that with such a large circulating supply but the people that run Verge hold a substantial portion so he may be right.
I've shook my head daily but it got me thinking more into blockchain. The idea of privacy will always be something we want. All of the other blockchain technologies give anyone in the world access to look at your money and where you spend it, which is fine if you want to see me paying rent as my address is easy to find. This complete knowledge of my spending to businesses and my daily routine accessible to anyone, even people that might be a friendly enemies, is something that doesn't sit well with me.
In comes the privacy coin.
With a privacy coin with high circulating supply, like Verge, using it day to day would leave you with the anonymity of carrying cash. Privacy coins like Verge and PIVX will be the ones most likely to be adopted. One for micro-transactions for me paying for my Starbucks or a pack of cigarettes and another for handling larger debts like my bar bill...both are none of anyone's business.
The one downside to privacy coins is that government doesn't like privacy. There's not much they can do to stop cryptocurrency but stopping privacy coins would seem like something they might focus on more than stopping cryptocurrency as cryptocurrency is the ultimate way to find out everything about you - who you are, what you spend money on, when you spend it, probably even why through spending analysis linking to certain personalities, and how they can get to you.
Verge and PIVX are two I'm defintely "buying back" into soon. smh.
