I recently started learning guitar. It has steel strings and pressing chordsmis painful and cutting me. Any tips to quicklynharden the skin?

My steel stringed accoustic guitar was my choice to !earn on and she sounds fantastic but pressing on thd strings to make chords is cutting my finger tips and thus reducing the amount of time I can play. What can I do to harden the skin on my fingertip please.
