Hi Guys! In this post we are exploring on another Splinterlands ruleset. The ruleset we are focusing on is Target Practice.

Target Practice
In a Target Practice ruleset, all ranged and magic units gain the Snipe ability.

Lets take a look at a Wild Silver ranked match with Target Practice as one of the ruleset. The battle restrictions are:
Target Practice and Close Range with a max mana of 32. Only Water, Death and Dragon splinters are allowed in this battle. The Video for the Full Battle can be seen here:

SplinterMana CostPositionReason
Kelya Frendal4SummonerI decided to go with Kelya for this match because Kelya gave +1 Armor and Speed to all my units. This is especially important in a Target Practice match as the additional armor could block a non-magic attack to each of my units. The extra speed is also very important as it potentially allow me to strike first.
The Kraken121stMost important unit in this setup. As I don't want my back units to be snipe in this Target Practice match, I decided to go with Kraken as the tank. Kraken has the Taunt ability and will draw all the attack to itself thereby protecting my back units. Kraken also has Demoralize ability which will reduce enemy melee attack by 1 thereby increasing its survivability. With Kraken being the target, it is then essential that I keep Kraken alive as long as possible.
Tide Biter32ndI placed Tide Biter as the 2nd unit behind Kraken because Tide Biter has the Reach and Reflection Shield abilities. With Reach, it means Tide Biter can hit from the 2nd position. With Reflection Shield, it means all Blast damage would not hurt my Tide Biter thereby also protecting my back line units.
Crustacean King33rdI need healers to keep my Kraken alive so I deployed Crustacean King here.
Merdaali Guardian34thAnother healer for my Kraken. With 2 healers, it would be extremely hard to kill my Kraken in this 32 mana match.
Scavo Hireling35thScavo Hireling has the Repair ability and would be able to repair my Kraken's armor. This make my Kraken even harder to kill.
River Nymph46thRiver Nymph has the Cleanse ability. This will protect my Kraken from Poison and more importantly from Affliction. A unit under Affliction would be unable to be heal so this unit will ensure my whole strategy don't collapse due to me miscalculating on the effect of Affliction.
Total Mana:32

Opponent Lineup:

My opponent went with a full melee Water splinter lineup with Possibilus the Wise as the summoner. Thankfully I didn't face a full magic lineup as that is the only weakness for my lineup.

End of Round 1:

Although my opponent deployed Demented Shark to boost the melee attack of my enemy units, it was cancelled out by my Kraken's Demoralize ability. As such even with the opponent Coastal Sentry's Double Strike ability, my Kraken was still able to suffer very little damage. The opponent, on the other hand, didn't had a unit with Repair and its tank had lose all the armor by the end of turn 1.

End of Round 2:

By the end of Round 2, my opponent tank, Diemonshark, was almost dead. My opponent's Creeping Ooze was also dying from the snipe attack from my range and magic units. Meanwhile my Kraken ended the round without any additional armor or health lost. This meant that the total damage output from the opponent lineup couldn't break my tank and support lineup.

End of Round 3:

My opponent lost both Diemonshark and Creeping Ooze this turn and it was obviously game over for the opponent.

End of Round 4:

By the end of round 4, the opponent best DPS unit was also almost dead. This was also the first time in the match that my Kraken's health was not full at the end of a round.

End of Round 5:

My opponent only worthy DPS unit, Coastal Sentry, was killed in this round and my Kraken is back to max health by the end of the round.

End of Round 7

This match was won in 7 rounds. It took slightly longer to win primarily because most of my units in this match are just support units which are used to keep my Kraken alive.

KEY STRATEGY
My strategy was to use my Kraken to draw all the enemy attacks and use healers and repairer to keep my Kraken alive. The strategy worked like a charm as the opponent didn't have enough firepower to break down my lineup.

SUMMARY
There are a few strategies to use in a Target Practice ruleset. One is to use Taunt like how I use it in this match. Another strategy I use often is to use a Martyr range unit and let it becomes the first target to snipe by the enemy. This way when it die, it will boost my surrounding units' stats.

My guild, The Guild of Kingshaven, is also looking for new members. For added incentive to joining us, our guild leader will also be assigning Runi to any new member that can actively participate in brawl battles and give donation to our guild buildings. Runi is extremely powerful and is the only unit that has the Rebirth ability.
